• What is RLT Level 1 and how does it fit into the full training pathway?

  Q: What exactly is covered in Level 1, and how does it fit into the full RLT training pathway?

  A: Level 1 is the foundations training in Relational Life Therapy. It gives you an in-depth introduction to the RLT model – including the 3 phases of work, the “adaptive child” vs “wise adult,” leverage, relational mindfulness, and seeing Terry work with real clients. It’s also the first step toward RLT Certification and prepares you for Levels 2 and 3 if you decide to continue later on.

• Are Continuing Education credits available for Level 1?

  Q: Do you offer CE credits for Level 1?

  A: Yes, Level 1 offers continuing education hours (CEs) through a US-based provider. For live cohorts, CEs are tied to attending the training (in full and completing a required evaluation).

  For homestudy, we have a quiz-based system, where you can earn 10 CEs by completing the recorded material and passing a quiz.

  
  

  • Do I have to attend all sessions live?/What if I can’t make it to all live sessions?

  Q: Do I need to attend every session live, or will there be recordings?

  A: We strongly encourage live attendance whenever possible, as the learning tends to land more deeply when you’re in the Zoom room. However, recordings are provided, so you won’t miss the content if you can’t attend live.

  Continuing Education credits - There will be an option to attain 10 CE’s through demonstrating your knowledge of Level 1 by taking a ‘quiz’ if you cannot attend all live classes in full but wish to still participate in the live course.

• What’s the difference between the live training and the homestudy version?

  Q: What’s the difference between doing Level 1 live vs homestudy?

  A: - The live version includes real-time classes on Zoom, the chance to interact, ask questions, and experience the group container. It’s also the route you’ll need if you want live CEs where applicable.

  - The homestudy version gives you access to the same core teaching content but you work through it at your own pace, watching recordings rather than attending live. There is an option to earn 10 CE's via a quiz for homestudy learners.

• Q: When is the next Level 1 being held?

• A: We don’t yet have the next live Level 1 dates confirmed in the calendar, although we typically run it once or twice a year.

• * Is Level 1 enough to start working with couples?

  Q: Is Level 1 enough to start working with couples if I’ve mostly worked with individuals?

  A: Level 1 gives you a strong foundation in the RLT framework and many practitioners do begin integrating RLT ideas into their couples work after this training. That said, it is not a full standalone qualification in couples therapy. Most people deepen their skills through Level 2, consultation/supervision, and experience over time. You’ll also need to stay within your professional scope and local regulations.

  
  

  * How long will I have access to the course? We guarantee a minimum of one year access to our courses from the purchase date. However, we have no plans to take our courses down which means you keep access to your courses indefinitely. Enjoy!

• Are the Level 1 Continuing Education credit hours recognised in the UK / outside the US?

  Q: Are the Level 1 CEs recognised in the UK (or other countries)?

  A: The CEs for Level 1 are issued by a US provider, so they’re not automatically accredited by a specific UK or non-US body. Many clinicians outside the US are able to self-submit the hours as CPD to their professional organisation, but it depends on that organisation’s policies. The safest option is to check with your own regulator/association, letting them know it’s a US continuing education training with documented hours and a certificate of completion.

• How long do I keep access to Level 1 materials?

  Q: When does my access to the Level 1 course end?

  A: You keep access to the Level 1 recordings and materials in your learning platform for the long term; there isn’t a fixed “expiry date” where the course disappears from your library. 

• Is RLT Level 1 part of the RLT Certification? Yes, when you enrol in the RLT Certification (our deepest, richest couples therapy training), you automatically receive access to RLT Level 1. • I'm interested in learning about Level 1 - Can I find out more about it?  The RLT Level 1 course is designed to give you an in-depth introduction to the theory and practice of the RLT model and It is also the first step toward RLT certification and will prepare you for the Level 2 & 3 trainings, if you decide to go in that direction at a later time.

• Why does the Level 1 course focus heavily on data-gathering? The course is designed as an introduction. Many participants need guidance on data gathering, and the Level 1 course addresses this. Many of our Therapists and Coaches who are highly experienced report getting a lot of value about covering this aspect in great detail.

• Is Level 1 Home Study or live? I see past dates advertised. Level 1 is offered in two formats, which is why you may see past dates on some pages:


  1) Level 1 - Home Study (recorded, self-paced)

  Immediate, on-demand access to the full curriculum - start anytime.

  Past dates shown on the page simply reflect the most recent live cohort; they don’t limit your access.


  2) Level 1 - Live cohort (runs a few times per year)

  - Runs on set dates with live Q&A.

  New dates are announced by email and on our events pages.

  You can begin with Home Study now and choose to join a future live cohort if it suits you.

  
  

  Do I need to cancel my order?

  No - not if you’re happy to start with the recorded course (most learners do).
