International Certification Students

  • Is RLT recognized in the US and outside the US?

We have continuing education credits authorised by NBCC for LIVE trainings and by CPD outside the US for live trainings.

  • How does RLT Certification work for participants in countries without recognized MFT licensing (e.g. Israel)?

Participants can be placed on the therapist track if they have the appropriate degree. Coaches who later obtain a license can be switched to the therapist listing.

  • Can a life coach in Quebec take RLT Certification if the term “therapy” is restricted?

Yes. Coaches can use the designation Relational Life Coaching instead of “therapy.”

  • Is an RLT Certification recognized outside of the United States?

Governing bodies don’t “recognize” any of these certification programs (RLT, Gottman, IFS, SEP). Successful completion of these programs is meant to develop an expected level of competency in the modality itself and should not be seen as an endorsement of broad competency in therapy or other mental healthcare at large.

RLT Certification should be viewed as a training to enhance a foundational (and pre-existing) level of skill in counseling or coaching. Certification is a way for potential clients and others in the field to recognize that you’ve taken steps beyond your primary training to develop a specialty in a particular treatment approach.

If you do not have any prior credentials and are hoping that this training is sufficient, this is not the training for you. RLT Certification is meant as continuing education for people already “credentialed” in some way in the country or region where they practice.
